Why I Built VetDex

A founder's story about lost vet records, 32 countries, and one unforgettable dog.

Devin Kelly with his service dog Thunder in Nicaragua

Devin and Thunder in Nicaragua

I've spent 13 years managing animal health records—as a professional horse trainer, K9 SAR handler, and adventure dog owner. I've traveled to 32 countries with my service dog, Thunder.

I've lost vet records at border crossings. I've scrambled to find vaccination records at emergency vet visits. I've missed Thunder's boosters and forgotten when his heartworm medicine was due. I've watched other animal owners—breeders, farmers, rescuers—struggle with the same problem: scattered, inaccessible health records.

It's 2025. Why am I still fumbling through wrinkled folders, coffee-stained booklets, and a thousand emails, hunting for that one screenshot from a vet in Colombia—or was it Nicaragua? This is insane. There has to be a better way.

When I didn't find one, I decided to build it.

What VetDex Does

VetDex consolidates all your animal's health records—vaccinations, medications, medical history, diet, supplements, and allergies—in one secure place. Share records instantly via QR code with vets, pet sitters, boarding facilities, or border agents. Works for dogs, cats, horses, livestock, and any animal you care for.

I'm Devin Kelly. Founder of DOGPAK (outdoor K9 gear), horse trainer, K9 SAR handler, and dog enthusiast. I speak 4 languages and have traveled to 32 countries with my service dog, Thunder.

I built VetDex because I believe animal health records shouldn't be scattered across emails, PDFs, and paper files. They should be organized, accessible, and shareable—especially when your animal's life depends on it.
